About Me

Hello and welcome to my page! I'm Amanda Bloom, owner and psychotherapist at Bloom Into Wellness Counseling. I am a fully licensed clinical mental health counselor with over 14 years of experience and I love connecting with individuals like you from all over North Carolina!

I have experience working with adults and adolescents in individual and group settings. I have worked with individuals in a variety of settings including hospital, residential, and outpatient settings. I spent 10 years working in non-profit community mental health organizations as well as more traditional outpatient practice settings.

My Approach

My approach to counseling involves providing a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where expression can take place and awareness and growth can be explored through understanding and non-judgmental interactions. While I am compassionate and empathetic, I also use humor as well as gently challenge clients to try new things to create meaningful change. I value our cultural differences and similarities and celebrate the opportunity to learn from one another. I believe in social justice and I believe in hope, love, equality, equity, inclusion and kindness.

I utilize an integrative approach tailored to the individual's needs combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance & Commitment  Therapy (ACT) and Emotion-Focused (EFT) therapies. I work with you to change your relationship to unhelpful thoughts and improve present moment awareness. I help you get unhooked from painful and distressing thoughts and move you toward behavioral changes that are consistent with your personal values. I believe that the overall health of our relationships impacts our quality of life. We will work together to help you build the necessary skills to express yourself effectively and move toward more healthy relationships.

My Background

I grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, NY. (Yes, where all the snow is..)  Since I was 6 years old, my family has been traveling down to North Carolina to vacation at the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks. I fell in love with OBX and made it my dream to live in NC ever since. I finally moved to NC in 2005 to attend graduate school at NC State University (Go Wolfpack!) And clearly, I never looked back!

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 13 years, our two boys and our dog, Daisy. I love being outdoors, including hiking, kayaking and being near any body of water- whether it's going to the lake or beach.

I look forward to meeting you and beginning our journey together!
